Monitoring Your Credit
Stephanie Lyons, the vice president of Enterprise Risk Assurance at Northwestern Mutual wrote a fantastic article “How to Protect Yourself After the EQUIFAX Data Breach”.
In the article she outlines some simple steps:
- Assume your information is at risk
- Sign up for fraud alerts
- Freeze your credit
- Check your credit report and consider monitoring it
- Sign up for online accounts and opt into extra layers of security
She recommends that we all monitor our financial accounts weekly to check on transactions and notify your financial institution immediately if you see anything unusual.
